Minneapolis, MN - On Tuesday, May 24, Minneapolis City staff will speak publicly for the first time since releasing a letter of demands to the City Coordinator, Mayor, and Council Members. City Coordinator’s Office staff, joined by a growing cross-departmental coalition, risked their jobs to address a racist, toxic work culture that leaves them unsafe and unable to effectively do their work. Staff called for a transparent, equity-focused recruitment process for the City’s highest unelected role.
Additionally, that afternoon city staff testified at the public hearing at 1:30 PM, calling on the Council to reject Mayor Frey’s appointment of the current Interim City Coordinator to a permanent position.
